24th October - pulled

Unfortunately, Al (our drummer) has injured his wrist whilst BMXing and can't play the drums at the moment. So... we've had to pull the gig on Friday the 24th of October. However, there are still 3 mint Stoke bands playing and 3 DJ's. We've also reduced the door price to £3. Try make it down anyway as our guitarist Daz, is doing a short DJ set.

Promo review

Oozing out of the foul Potteries like molten cheese out of Satan's terrible blackened arse...it's the lords of lysergic leakage, the diplomats of dope, the high priests of the order of the interstellar daemon bitch...SPACE WITCH. You dig? This is a two track promo, recorded in July 2008, and available from the band's shiny new website for two thin pigs and your first born daughter. Or £3.00.

Biography

Space is trippy, the witch is heavy. Let it be known that the ones who are called Space Witch were spawned in the shining month of July 2007 AD in the kiln strewn kingdom of Stoke on Trent, by the one known only as ‘Daz’, who had been cursed by a plague and struck down. But Daz fought his malady with the help of cosmic magic and fashioned great riffs of cast iron doom on his Gibson SG that had been blessed by wood elves on Mow Cop and that made him feel strong again and made his bones roar with power.

Review

Space Witch packed in a short set of their trademark space sludge that delivered enough bottom end Moog maddened sci-fi dynamics to make the outer spheres vibrate. These lot are one of a fantastic few (Charger, Rise To Thunder, etc.) that fly the flag of the continued super heavy legacy of the mysterious Potteries of north Staffordshire. Any lover of stoner heavy riffs, pounding repetition, and classic early Hawkwind (me) will dig this quirky lot's throbbing space shambles. The marriage of a real life Moog to a cyclical sludge blue print is inspired, and I can't wait to hear Space Witch in the studio. I feel that only a beautifully packaged full length long player will truly do justice to their crushing cosmic project. Can I write the sleeve notes please gentlemen?

Interview

Its all about the 'Sonics' as Slug said to me after witnessing Space Witch live for the first time, and I dare say I have to agree with him as this 4 piece from Stoke deliver an aural assault of mind altering instrumental Psychedelic Doom, and although with no 'official' release available as yet, I caught up with their guitarist Daz for a few words, so fans of 5ive, The Heads & Earthless, read on and discover the curse of the Space Witch.
